In a recent drone attack claimed to be launched by Ukraine, five individuals were injured at a railway station in the Russian city of Kursk, as reported by the region’s governor on Sunday.

Roman Starovoit, in a statement on Telegram, shared that a “Ukrainian drone attacked Kursk”, further explaining that the drone “crashed onto the roof of the station building, sparking a fire.”

The governor indicated that the victims sustained minor injuries from glass shards and that emergency medical teams are on-site attending to the wounded.

Kursk is located roughly 55 miles (90 kilometers) from the Russia-Ukraine border.

Meanwhile, Moscow’s Mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, revealed that an attempt was made by another drone heading towards Moscow. This attack, however, was thwarted. He announced on Telegram that the drone was “intercepted by air defense forces”, extending gratitude to the military for their prompt action.

TASS news agency, quoting the Russian Defense Ministry, reported that the drone was detected above the Stupino district in the Moscow region while it was en route to the capital. The ministry stated that the drone was electronically disrupted and crashed into a deserted area without causing any casualties or damage. They condemned the attempt as a “terrorist attack” orchestrated by the “Kyiv regime.”

Furthermore, TASS mentioned that both Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports, serving the Russian capital, were temporarily shut down.
