The Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs announced today the evacuation of 46 Jordanian citizens, out of the 63 the ministry had initially declared the start of their evacuation from the Gaza Strip to the Arab Republic of Egypt through the Rafah Crossing yesterday.
Sufyan Al-Qudah, the ministry’s official spokesperson, explained that through the Jordanian Embassy in Egypt, 41 Jordanian citizens out of the 46 who were evacuated from Gaza to the Arab Republic of Egypt via the Rafah Crossing were transported to the Kingdom on a ship belonging to the Arab Bridge Maritime Company, in coordination with the Ministry of Transport.
The ship arrived in Aqaba on Sunday evening from Nuweiba. Al-Qudah mentioned that the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority received them, provided assistance, medical care, and transported those who wished to go to the capital, Amman. He added that five other individuals from those evacuated arrived in Cairo.
Al-Qudah stated that the number of Jordanian citizens who have been evacuated from Gaza to the Arab Republic of Egypt through the Rafah Crossing reached 712 individuals out of the 1153 registered on the ministry’s lists.
Ambassador Al-Qudah emphasized that a team from the Jordanian Embassy in Egypt is still present to this day, overseeing the evacuation operations for Jordanian citizens residing in and present in Gaza on the Egyptian side of the Rafah Crossing.
The team is providing all forms of assistance to ensure their safety and well-being. He also emphasized the continuation of evacuation operations as long as the need arises, utilizing various methods and means.
