More than 30 members of terrorist militias were killed in a military operation conducted by the Somali army in rural areas of the Lower Shabelle province in the south of the country.
According to the Somali News Agency, the military operation was carried out in the areas of “Jimi, Bangani, and Bandar” in the Lower Shabelle province, based on intelligence about the gathering of terrorist elements in these areas to prepare a terrorist plot targeting civilians.
Somalia has been grappling with insurgency and terrorist activities for years, primarily orchestrated by the extremist group Al-Shabaab.
The group has been responsible for numerous attacks targeting civilians, government officials, and security forces.
The Somali government, with the support of African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) troops, has been engaged in efforts to combat terrorism and stabilize the country.
Military operations like the recent one in the Lower Shabelle province are part of ongoing efforts to degrade the capabilities of terrorist groups operating in Somalia and ensure the safety and security of the population.
