The 18th session of the Saudi-Egyptian Joint Committee is set to convene under the chairmanship of Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of the General Authority for Foreign Trade, alongside the Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, Ahmed Samir. The meeting will take place in the capital, Riyadh, from March 4 to March 3, 2024.

As reported by the Saudi-Egyptian Joint Committee, the 18th session aims to implement the strategic directions between the two countries, address challenges facing the Joint Committee’s activities, approve its work, and hold periodic meetings with internal entities to monitor the implementation of recommendations and oversee the committee’s work.

The technical preparatory meeting will be chaired by Abdulaziz bin Omar Al-Sakran, Deputy Governor of the General Authority for Foreign Trade, and Dr. Amani Al-Wasal, Head of the Agreements and Foreign Trade Sector at the Egyptian Ministry of Industry and Trade. Their role includes preparing and coordinating the committee’s meetings and monitoring the implementation of strategic directions for both countries.

It is noteworthy that the trade volume between the two countries reached approximately $11.8 billion as of November 2023. The leading exports from Egypt included metal products and plastics and their derivatives. Meanwhile, the top imported goods comprised metal products and fruits.
