In a heart-wrenching incident on Saturday, 15 civilians were killed in Khartoum as their residences came under fire, confirmed a medical source.
This comes amidst the ongoing war that has been raging for nearly seven months between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
According to an anonymous source cited by “France-Presse”, the bodies of the civilian victims were transported to the “Al-No” hospital in the Omdurman region, a suburb of Khartoum.
The ongoing conflict in Sudan has resulted in approximately 10,400 fatalities as reported by “Eclid”, an organization dedicated to tallying conflict casualties.
Additionally, the war has displaced and forced into refuge a staggering 5.8 million Sudanese, as per United Nations data.
The adversarial parties, led on one side by First Team Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan of the army, and on the other by Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo of the Rapid Support Forces, have yet to achieve a decisive military victory.
Both factions continue to remain steadfast, unwilling to make concessions at the negotiation table.
Conversations between the conflicting sides have recently resumed under the auspices of American and Saudi sponsorship in the city of Jeddah.
Riyadh articulated that the discussions aim at facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid, achieving a ceasefire, and taking other confidence-building measures to move towards a permanent cessation of hostilities.
