Fourteen individuals, including twelve Syrians, have tragically died after getting lost in the Algerian desert, as reported by the “Ghouth Rescue and Relief Association” on Monday.
The association discovered the bodies of twelve Syrians, including two children, in the Belkbour area of the Algerian desert.
The bodies have been transferred to the morgue at the hospital in Bordj Omar Driss, located in the Illizi province.
According to the association, the search teams located a missing Toyota vehicle on Tuesday. Near the vehicle, they found the bodies of the driver and his companion, both Algerians, along with a third individual who was Syrian.
Following the trail of footprints from the vehicle, the team discovered eleven more bodies, all of whom were Syrians.
The cause of death has been attributed to dehydration due to the extreme weather conditions in the desert.
The association has urged the families of the victims to contact the hospital in Bordj Omar Driss to retrieve the bodies.
Videos shared by the rescuers show the bodies scattered across the harsh landscape of the Algerian desert, highlighting the perilous conditions faced by those attempting to traverse this vast and unforgiving terrain.
