The Sudanese Doctors Syndicate announced that 100 people were killed or injured in clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) over the past three days in the city of El Fasher, Darfur.
In a statement issued today, the syndicate reported that North Darfur State, specifically its capital El Fasher, has witnessed violent events and a significant escalation despite local and international calls to end the conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF.
These clashes have resulted in numerous civilian casualties and a massive displacement of people seeking safety in other areas.
The syndicate described El Fasher as the most dangerous and worst place to live in Sudan today, urging an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in the city and other affected regions.
The statement warned that the current situation could lead to the deaths of all El Fasher residents, either due to starvation, thirst, or the lack of essential health and medical services.
The syndicate called for urgent and serious intervention to stop the fighting and deliver humanitarian aid.
The Sudanese Doctors Syndicate demanded the opening and protection of safe corridors to allow the entry of humanitarian and medical assistance into El Fasher.
It also stressed the importance of protecting civilians and civilian buildings according to the Geneva Convention’s rules of engagement in civilian areas.
In conclusion, the syndicate called for serious consideration and genuine will to end the suffering of the Sudanese people by stopping the war and initiating an inclusive Sudanese dialogue.
