A small tourist plane crashed near Cordoba in southern Spain, resulting in one fatality and one person being hospitalised, according to emergency services.
Small aircraft accidents, particularly those involving tourist planes, are not uncommon due to various factors like mechanical failure, pilot error, and adverse weather conditions.
These incidents tend to receive heightened attention especially when they occur in popular tourist destinations like southern Spain.
Southern Spain, known for its scenic landscapes and historical sites, often attracts tourists who opt for small plane tours to experience a unique aerial view of the region.
Following such accidents, there are typically investigations to determine the cause and to improve future aviation safety protocols.
In June, the Beja AirShow festival ended in tragedy as two planes crashed in mid-air, causing one of them to burst into flames, killing its pilot and injuring another.
The accident took place at 4.05 pm during an aerial demonstration by the Yakstars Iberian patrol, made up of Portuguese and Spanish pilots.
“It is with great sorrow and dismay that the Air Force extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends and acquaintances, and is deeply sympathetic in this time of loss,” the statement read.
A Portuguese pilot was injured due to the collision and taken to Beja’s José Joaquim Fernandes Hospital. He has already been discharged.
