A source from the police headquarters in Damascus, the Syrian capital, announced the death of a person following the explosion of a bomb in their car in the Mezzeh area, without revealing their identity.
The official Syrian news agency, SANA, posted a picture of three burnt cars at the blast site. Social media pages reported preliminary information indicating that the explosion occurred near the “Bakri Kadoura” school in the Mezzeh area, also causing nearby cars to burn.
Mezzeh is located in western Damascus and houses several Syrian security and military headquarters, as well as Palestinian leadership offices, UN organizations, and embassies, including the prominent Iranian embassy. The explosion caused a loud noise and panic in the area, which had previously been targeted by several missile strikes attributed to Israel, the most notable of which in early April targeted the Iranian consulate, killing several people including Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander in Iran’s Quds Force.
