In a recent escalation of hostilities in eastern Ukraine, at least one person was killed and nine others were injured in a Russian shelling attack on the Donetsk region, according to official reports.
The injured include four youths in the village of Kostiantynopil, as stated by Donetsk’s military governor, Vadim Lyakh, on the Telegram messaging platform on Thursday.
Lyakh also reported that the village was hit by 13 enemy shells and shared images of the damaged homes.
Earlier, the Russian military claimed to have captured another town in Donetsk, following their recent occupation of the town of Avdiivka.
In his evening video address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy mentioned that the situation around Avdiivka was also discussed during his meeting with the country’s top leadership on Thursday.
Zelenskyy also revealed that he had a phone conversation with European Council President Charles Michel, discussing Ukraine’s prospects for joining the European Union and the ongoing protests by Polish farmers in the border area.
