Saudi authorities have issued an update announcing one fatality and 20 individuals remaining in intensive care as a result of food poisoning originating from a restaurant in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, and several other branches, last week.
The official Saudi Press Agency published a ministry statement stating that “no new cases of food poisoning symptoms have been recorded during the past five days of the recent outbreak, with a total of 75 cases reported, including 69 citizens and 6 residents.”
The ministry, as reported by the official news agency of the Kingdom, stated: “50 of the affected individuals have been diagnosed with ‘Salmonella’ food poisoning,” noting that “43 cases have recovered and been discharged safely from the hospital, with 11 cases admitted to wards and 20 cases receiving care in intensive care, along with one fatality.”
It reported that “all these cases are linked to a single source of food poisoning,” highlighting that “the concerted efforts of relevant government entities have resulted in controlling the outbreak by the grace of God,” and confirming that “continuous monitoring and provision of healthcare to hospitalized cases are ongoing, with wishes for their speedy recovery.”
In the statement, the Saudi health authorities urged “the importance of obtaining guidance and information from official sources and not circulating rumors or misinformation.”
